MI products, including Yeelight, are wrapped in white rather than paper broad color before. There is no any word or logo on the front. But when it was turned to the back, the information is totally informed, including MI and MIJIA these two brands. (Pretty advanced I think.)

When it is at a high temperature, the high color temperature LED can only be seen; two kind of 4000K LED will shine. Similarly, the low color temperature can only be seen when it is at low temperature.

So when the MI Table Lamps come out, I feel extremely excited. Does it mean this industry is going to change? Will the good quality lamps be more and more normal?
It seems that the flash seldom be mentioned in professional flied. But when we talk about eye-protected lamps，the first point we mention must be flash. I think it’s important to have a good flash. It’s proved that having a bad flash will make us get tired easier, it not only affect our comfort and learning efficiency, but also give rise to short sighting.
MIJIA table lamps, they are unquestionably with excellent quality.
I would like to show you a photo of comprehensive questions and answers.
MIJIA table lamps have raised the frequency up to 1000Hz by using the rectifier. According to the photo we have mentioned before, the depth of the limited fluctuation is 32%, while under the output, the highest depth fluctuation of MIJIA table lamps just merely reached to 2.64%! It’s amazing. But there are some factories not improving their frequency, and they exceed too much.

I had an experiment to compare the 5W LED (LEELITE 5W 2700K bulb, 430lumen) with MIJIA 5W table lamps, the photos are below. And I concluded that the MIJIA’s diffusion of light is larger, the condensation is worse and the Illumination is also not as good as the others.
In this respect, not to consider any quantitative criteria, the easiest, which is also the most practical method to give evaluation is to feel if your eyes have been exposed straightly to some beam of light. In other words, normally the light source (here means the LED chip) and diffuser plate should be out of sight.
Nonetheless, the product(reading lamp) of MIJIA, owing to the maximally simplified design and where the one for lampshade is a priority (personally speaking), has been limited physically to get no better anti-glare result. Also, the connection design between lamppost and lampshade makes the type almost have no room to adjust the height or angle of the light source.
The first one simulates the normal sitting height of an adult, shooting straightly the desk top with the 50-centimeter focal length. The two pictures below are the demonstrations of testing, from which we can tell that from this angle the LED chip and the diffuser plate cannot be caught directly.
Second experiment–shooting the desk top in the view of an adult (including the high school students close to an adult height) who is bending over the desk doing homework, or of a child (assuming he or she has much the same height as the former) sitting erectly. It shows clearly from the testing pictures that there was direct light streaming into the lense.
My personal private opinion is that I don’t recommend it to children. This is a particular-about-sitting-posture lamp.
Although I didn’t access the test report of MIJIA reading lamp, but the reliable news is that its CRI (color rendering index) reaches 83, which is a fairly good but not that outstanding result. Since 80 is the passing score (over 100), so far those lamps over 90 in CRI have generally been used as equipment for photography and design. As for civil use, 83 is above the average score of national brands but common for international brands. But anyway, as a branch of MIUI, MIJIA doesn’t show much interest in setting strict criticism in this aspect, but more probably making way for more advanced products in the future (this generation of its reading lamp is obviously the beginner).
If a more excellent performance of the CRI is achieved, the sphere of application of MIJIA reading lamp will definitely be extended and wider. But as far as the current industrial world is concerned, those whose scores can exceed 90 or even reach 95, already have ability to easily make high-volume production without much extra costs but a teeny bit sacrifice of luminance.
Let me analyze with the “photo of hand”–
The picture received no color adjustment. It can be seen that the blood color of my palm is displayed in unreal purple-ish red (it depends on different screens), but the actual color is totally more pink and yellow-ish.

The reading lamp itself is a 2700-6500k consecutive color temperature-adjustable version (the minimum amount of variation is 1k, via app), but as a LED luminaire, many of this kind are restricted below 4000k more often by various standards (including the national standard of lighting design for interior luminaire and the technical certification requirements of table lamps for visual task).
Nevertheless, high color temperature illuminant is exactly what most consumers adore. This is actually the first time for me to use this belt type of long-rectangle illuminant table lamp. Before receiving the package I have already imaged how the performance of its light/shadow will be when I am writing. As the illuminant is shaped in a long rectangle, the shadow paralleled to it must be very tough while the one in vertical direction very soft. I did the test as below.
The result sure enough proved the emergence of both the tough and soft shadows. As the shadow formed when writing, I believe most of people naturally hope more that it would be a circular one of a round illuminant, and I’m with you.
Power Consumption and Temperature
As a 5W table lamp, its power consumption is easily not high. My focus here is the specific power consumption in the standby mode (lamp is turned off but the whole of WIFI intelligent module remains on).
Because the test instrument was over elementary, it showed 0.0W most of time but occasionally jumped to 0.X W. Overall: power consumption is extremely low in standby mode.
In addition, I noticed a phenomenon: when height is the same, lower color temperature consumes relatively higher power.
Now let’s move to the temperature. LED luminaire is sensitive to temperature. Since I haven’t figured out the right way to disassemble it, I could just feel it by holding it in the hand–entirely the lighting region has fairly higher temperature and that of diffuser plate and backwards is quite equal. Probably due to the wide distribution of the LED chip (relative area of the inner aluminum substrate is not small), not wholly high power consumption, and the entire metal material of the lamp, the quantity of heat is not that large, but the heat dissipation is nice. After a constant while of being at the largest power, the temperature measured by a thermometer is shown in the picture below, highest 35.4℃, while indoor temperature about 24℃–temperature of the surface of the lamp body is 11℃ higher than that in environment.
Experimental display of MIJIA reading lamp of MIUI now is coming to an end. Looking back the article, just like the couple of companies, I couldn’t help sighing in astonishment: I have unbelievably so many requirements to just a table lamp??! Yes. This is MIUI Domino. How many places worthy to be improved in a lamp, reflects how many parts waiting to be advanced in our lives.
What leaves the impression of MIJIA table lamp on me is not that string of red rope, but the design, material and the quality. Although there are some points of criticism (mainly at illuminance, coloration, dazzle), it doesn’t mean the lamp is off criteria but the anticipating hope for Yeelight to do better.
From the outer design of MIJIA table lamp, to the 2700-6500K generous temperature-adjustable zones, it is on the pursuit journey of creating a universal “one-is-enough” table lamp. But considering the illuminance and the not that mature figure of children, I don’t advice this lamp to them. There is no so-called eyes-protected lamp on the earth, but finding a safer-to-eye one for children is absolutely realizable. But except that, the feature and quality of you MIJIA table lamp are the cost-effective lamps to work and life. Another suggestion–hope MIUI lamp factory can also develop more “special” lamps for diverse scenes.
